Coupon Inserts 1/11/09

Apparently, there will be 2 coupon inserts tomorrow: 1 Smart Source and 1 Red Plum.

The Smart Source looks to be full of cleaning coupons: Fantastik, Pledge, Lysol, Scrubbing Bubbles & Windex. There is also a $.50/2 Cottonelle, which will make the 4roll package $.50 each at Krogers.

The Red Plum is small, but it does have more Suave coupons.

Thanks to Taylortown Preview for all it does in compiling the list.

My First Ezine Article Published

I recently got my first Ezine article published. Ezine is a web-based "electronic magazine", which is where it derives it's name from.

To view my article, titled "How to Organize Your Coupons", click here.

I hope you enjoy it...let me know, please.

Kroger savings!!!

I bought:
8 Powerade $.89 - .40 cpn = $.09 each
1 Cottonelle Bath Tissue $.99 - .50 cpn = FREE
4 Heartland pastas $1.50 - .55 cpn = $.50 each
1 Organic Wheat Bran $1.69
2 Kroger pretzels $1.39 each
4 Softsoap liquid hand soap $1.00 - .35 cpn = $.30 each
2 Kroger taco mix $.43 each
1 Kroger wheat saltines $1.29
1 Schiavones spaghetti sauce $2.99 (our favorite)
1 12 pk Diet Coke $3.67

Total savings $24.30
coupon savings $14.19
oop = $21.55

Surprised by the Stats

I was surprised as I read today's paper with a report that recorded that Americans are only redeeming 1% - 3% of all available coupons!! I know I'm doing my best to up that number and hopefully am helping others to do so.

The other alarming thing I heard was in a commercial...now I know that this is probably an exaggeration. The ad read, "You are already spending $30 on paper towels a month anyway!" Well, now, I have news for them. I spend no where near that for paper towels. I average 1 roll a month, get it on sale and use a coupon!

Unfortunately, I had to get a rain check for Electrosol here, too. Surely, they will get some in stock soon!!

My savings % isn't the greatest, but I had to buy coffee and some ground chuck and that always runs up my total.

Fun Trip to Walgreens!!!

Went to Walgreens today...it was a great trip. As I entered the store, I noticed a cart of Fructis styling products labeled $.99 each. As I was checking them out and comparing them to my coupons, the cashier from the cologne department asked if she could help me. "Well", I said, "I was just wondering if I could use my coupons for these." Her reply was, "Absolutely, and there is no limit to the number you can buy at that price." That was all I needed. Having 9 Fructis $1 coupons, I picked up 8 stylers, saving 1 coupon for the shampoo that was also Free at Walgreens this week. So here's the list of what I bought:

8 Fructis stylers
1 Fructis shampoo
4 Boxes of Kelloggs cereal 4/$11
1 10 pk. coast soap (a necessity)

For all 9 Fructis', I used a $2WAGS cpn. and $1 mfr. cpn.
Used 4 $1 Kelloggs cpn.

oop = $5.10!!! And, received $3 RR for the cereal.

The cashier laughed and said, "You just got all this for a net of $2.10"!!!
Total savings = $52.40

The ONLY down side to my trip was I had to get rain checks for the Reynolds Wrap and the Electrosol Dish Tablets.

CVS Plan

I haven't gone shopping at CVS yet this week, but here is my plan:

Transaction #1:
Buy 5 Arm & Hammer Essentials (raincheck) $14.95
Use 5 $1 cpns
Subtotal $9.95
Use $10 ECBs to cover total + tax
Receive $15 ECBs from purchase & $2.50 ECBs for quarter

Transactions #2
2 Stayfree $4.50 - B1G1 = $4.50
1 Band Aid (to qualify for the $10 J&J)
1 Garnier Fructis Shampoo $2.99 - $1 cpn = $1.99
2 Speedstick $6 - B1G1 cpn = $3
2 Colgate Total $5 - 2 $.75 cpns = $3.50

ECBs = $2 Fructis + $3 Speedstick + $10 J&J + $2 Colgate = $17
subtotal = $15.99 + tax
Use $15 ECBs from Trans#1
oop = $1 + tax
ECBs to carry $19.50

Looks like a great deal to me!!
All for just a dollar and some change!!

Lots of Klipping to Do!!

I now have bought 15 papers over the weekend. I bought 9 yesterday as I previously posted. Well, the one insert that was missing from my local papers had some good coupons including Fiber One Pancake mix, which I want to try. So, in addition to the one delivered this morning, I went and bought 5 more Sunday papers.
Lots of klipping...but LOTS of savings ahead!!!!
