Are We a Christian Nation?

After I heard yesterday that our President stated that we are not a Christian nation, I was greatly bothered. Just a few thoughts that I have had:
1) "One nation under God"...does that not mean anything anymore?
2) This nation was founded by God-fearing, God-worshipping men using Biblical principles. Just go to Washington, DC, and see all the Scripture quotes on and around the various monuments and buildings.
3) If we are not a Christian nation, then why all the hype and promotion for this coming Sunday? What are we celebrating, I ask? It's Easter...it's Resurrection Day! It's the day we celebrate Jesus rising up from the dead. It's not about a bunny or eggs. It's about a Savior!!

** I judge no one. I pray for our leaders that they too will come to the Truth. This is a call for Christians to pray like we've never before.

i could not agree more. say it loud. we have to stand. now more than ever, Jesus should be the center of each and every decision. pray. that is the only way things will change.
2 Chronicles 7:14
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

I can not and will not judge a mans heart but I know you can go sit in a pew every Sunday and not be a true Christian. BUT I can say that this IS A CHRISTIAN NATION... ditto on everything you said in your post.
WE ARE ONE NATION UNDER GOD (I call Him Yahwey) HIS GRACE and MERCY are on this country... we NEED TO PRAY!!!! IF OUR LEADER denies Him we are in big trouble as a country... Though I KNOW His BLESSINGS, MERCY and GRACE will still be poured out on HIS FAITHFUL people!!! (Though there is no telling what is gonna happen around us.)
Ditto to Le "2 Chronicles 7:14
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Julie, I have so many things I want to say, but feel like I shouldn't since many things feel negative and ugly. I am reminded about an article I read recently that said, when your principles are put to the test or to the fire, remember that you are facing the Great One, our only Judge, God. Instead of negativity, we MUST PRAISE HIM. I totally agree with you all that we must stand up for what we believe, but we must remember to walk in love while being firm. (and I don't mean to say nothing or stand idly by) Our pastor says it all the time, all it takes for evil to prevail... is for good men to do nothing. Let's keep standing up for Christ!
Warmth & Blessings,
Tracey C.

Hi Julie,
It is a scary thought to me how is seems some many people are trying to take God out of things. How many people say that talking about God offend's them, it is sad. My children are not even allowed to pray in school or even read a bible for fear if will offend others. What about offending us Christians who believe and love God so much! I pray our nations leaders will wake up and see the truth. WE ARE A CHRISTIAN NATION, we were founded on that weather they want to believe it or not.
Blessings!

Before I critique his comment, I would like to have read what was said around it. Not just part of a sentence, but even with that said I do not feel like we have a Christian government/nation. And I'm happy for that. Let me explain what I mean...when I hear about all the things they are doing over in Arab countries and using "islamic" law, I am very disturbed. They are using the parts of their Koran that they like to rule people and get the results they want.

If we were ruled by Christianity, someone could do the same thing. People once used the Bible to justify slavery and Jim Crow laws. Thus I'm glad we are rule by the "rule of law" that is guided by Christian principles. I want God and Jesus in peoples hearts. This will then guide their laws and ensure justice.
